If this sister gets married after iddath, does she have to return inheritance back
The widow in reference is entitled to her full share as stipulated by Allaah Ta’aala, i.e. 1/8 of the entire estate. She is entitled to this even if she gets married to someone else after her ‘iddah. In the case that she gets married again, and this is her right and choice, she will not have to give back anything. There is no reprehension in her getting married again. The 1/8 of the estate that she receives as inheritance as well as the gifts that she had received before will all belong to her. No one may demand or even request her to give anything back. They will be sinful if they do so. If anyone forces her to give back anything, they will have to repay her in the Hereafter.
We are aware that many people are influenced by Hindu traditions and cultures in these regards. As Muslims, we must stay away from such and strictly adhere to the laws of Allaah Ta’aala. We are Muslims. The Deen of Allaah Ta’aala must be given preference over culture.
